dragonpilot on comma 2: what still works

dragonpilot is still active in 2026, but only for comma 3, comma 3X, and similar hardware. Its comma two version lives on a separate frozen branch.

Frozen since April 2024. The d2 branch was last changed on April 19, 2024. It sits on an older openpilot base and will not get new features or car support.

What the d2 branch offers

  • Always-on lane centering with the ALKA option
  • Dynamic end-to-end driving behaviour
  • The Flight Panel screen layout
  • Driving personalities and profile switching
  • Lane change assist
  • Speed control on supported cars

What you give up on comma 2

Newer dragonpilot features need comma 3 or 3X hardware. The comma two branch also misses two years of openpilot driving-model and car updates.

If your comma two runs well today, keep enjoying it. When you want current models, new cars, or support, comma four is the current device.

Install in 2026

How to put dragonpilot on a comma two

The old one-tap install addresses no longer work. A community laptop tool replaces them.

  1. Get past the setup loop first

A comma two reset in 2026 gets stuck on the Wi-Fi setup screen. Use the community fix tool from our comma two guide.

  2. Choose dragonpilot as the software

The tool asks which software to install. Pick dragonpilot from its list, or enter the owner dragonpilot-community and the branch d2.

  3. Let the device finish

Installation takes a while on old hardware. Leave it on stable power until the home screen appears.

  4. Set it up in the car

Complete calibration on a normal drive, then turn on the dragonpilot options you want in Settings.

Branch

Where the comma two code lives

dragonpilot moved its comma two and EON support to the d2 branch of its community project page. The main project now documents comma 3 and comma 3X only.

Branch and project status checked September 10, 2026.
