Get the pieces right first

Your Jetlink setup,
step by step.

Choose a model computer, check its requirements, then connect your comma while parked. Each platform has a different level of testing.

Before you start.

The project lists comma four and comma 3X, a USB 3 data cable, and separate power for both devices. A charging-only cable will not work. Keep everything powered, online and offroad for installation and model preparation.

Check the exact software path. Jetlink’s documented comma setup requires Zoompilot’s experimental jetson-trt branch. Update Jetlink and the comma together. Read the operating limits and update and rollback guide first.

Set up your model computer.

NVIDIA Jetson

A dedicated small computer for the larger driving model.

Project-tested on Orin Nano Super with JetPack 7.2.1.

What you need

  • Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit with 8 GB memory.
  • At least 64 GB of microSD storage, or an NVMe SSD.
  • JetPack 7.2.1; the guide also lists 6.2 as untested for this release. 7.0 and 7.1 are excluded.
  • USB 3 A-to-C data cable and a separate, correctly rated power supply.

Your next steps

  1. Read the official power and JetPack instructions before buying adapters or flashing storage. Installing JetPack erases the selected drive.
  2. Follow the Jetson installer guide. Choose the power behavior that matches whether your car’s socket stays powered after parking.
  3. Complete the parked comma setup below, using the Jetson’s USB-A port.
  4. Wait for model preparation to finish. Check the project’s operating limits and daily-use guide before use.

Mac

A Mac app with the model server built in.

Project-tested on Mac; results depend on hardware and model.

What you need

  • Apple silicon Mac with macOS 15 or later. Intel Macs are excluded.
  • 16 GB memory recommended and roughly 3 GB free storage per model.
  • USB 3 data cable, separate power, and a Mac that stays awake and cool.

Your next steps

  1. Open the official Jetlink Releases page and download the Mac DMG.
  2. Drag Jetlink to Applications, open it, and wait for Waiting for comma.
  3. Complete the parked comma setup below, then check that the app reports Connected over USB 3.
  4. Keep the Mac powered and awake. Read its Status screen and the official performance guidance before use.

Linux PC

Use a compatible NVIDIA graphics card in a PC.

Documented setup; untested on hardware by the project at this revision.

What you need

  • Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 series or newer.
  • NVIDIA driver 580 or newer, disk space for the runtime and models.
  • USB 3 data connection and separate power for the PC and comma.

Your next steps

  1. Review the Linux guide’s driver and installer changes before installing.
  2. Use the project’s installer instructions on the intended PC. Follow any requested restart steps there.
  3. Complete the parked comma setup below and connect through a USB-A port.
  4. Treat this as an untested platform path, not a confirmed ready-to-drive configuration.

Windows / WSL2

An advanced Linux-on-Windows setup with USB forwarding.

Documented setup; untested by the project at this revision.

What you need

  • A Windows NVIDIA PC with Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 running in WSL2.
  • Windows NVIDIA driver 580 or newer, systemd in WSL, and USB forwarding with usbipd-win.
  • The Linux guide’s remaining GPU, storage, and power requirements.

Your next steps

  1. Start with the official WSL2 section. The NVIDIA driver belongs in Windows, not inside WSL.
  2. Follow its systemd and Linux-installer steps, then forward the comma’s USB device to WSL.
  3. Follow the project’s bench-test guidance before attempting the comma setup.
  4. Keep this experimental path separate from the project-tested Mac and Jetson configurations.

iPhone / iPad

An experimental native app you build using a Mac.

The model ran on an iPhone; the comma link was tested with a Mac standing in for the phone.

What you need

  • USB-C iPhone or iPad on iOS or iPadOS 26.1 or later; check the guide’s USB 3 device list.
  • A Mac with Xcode 26, an Apple developer account, and about 3 GB free per model.
  • USB 3 data cable; the guide describes a powered USB-C hub for charging. A direct phone cable is untried.

Your next steps

  1. Read the iPhone guide’s limitations, then follow its Xcode signing and installation instructions.
  2. A free Apple account needs the app installed again from Xcode every seven days. There is no App Store or TestFlight build at this revision.
  3. For parked connection setup, use the iOS Accelerator Link option and allow the app’s Local Network permission.
  4. Keep Jetlink on screen. A Home Screen website shortcut cannot install or run this native model server.

Android

An experimental native app built from source.

Not yet run on a phone by the project at this revision; speed estimates are not measurements.

What you need

  • Android 12 or later, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or newer, and USB 3. This list does not establish working phone compatibility.
  • A Mac or Linux PC to build the app and about 3 GB free per model.
  • USB 3 hub with USB-C power pass-through, charger, and USB-A to USB-C data cable.

Your next steps

  1. Read the Android guide’s hardware and performance limits before choosing a phone.
  2. Follow the project’s build and APK installation instructions. There is no Play Store build at this revision.
  3. For parked setup, use USB for Accelerator Link and connect through the powered hub.
  4. Open Jetlink and follow the USB permission prompt. This is a development path, not a verified phone setup.

After preparing the computer

Connect your comma while parked.

  1. Check the matching branch. Follow the project’s official comma installation instructions for Zoompilot with Jetlink. Read the reset and installation implications before changing your existing setup.
  2. Choose the connection. Open Settings → Models → Accelerator Link. Choose USB for Jetson, PC, Mac or Android. Choose iOS for iPhone or iPad. Make this change offroad.
  3. Start with the default model. Leave Big Model at its default during the first setup. Connect a USB 3 data cable using your platform’s documented ports or powered hub.
  4. Wait for preparation. A pulsing icon means the model is still downloading, transferring or preparing. A green icon while parked means the large model is ready. Preparation time depends on the machine and model.
  5. Review the operating instructions. Read the project’s current alerts, model-switching behavior and limitations before driving. Be ready to take over if the link fails or falls behind. A TAKE CONTROL alert does not prove assistance disengaged. The reviewed branch defines Jetlink link loss as a warning. Other faults and software revisions can behave differently.

Use your phone as a status screen

See what Jetlink is doing in a browser.

  1. With Jetlink installed on a Jetson or PC, connect your phone to the same network as that computer.
  2. Find the local status-page address in the server’s status output, following the official guide. Open that address in your phone’s browser.
  3. Check the link, loaded model and preparation progress. The page also exposes frame timing, hardware information and logs.

This page is read-only and has no login. It cannot change the server’s settings. The documented access is on your local network; it is not an internet remote-control account.

If it does not connect.

No Accelerator Link setting?

Confirm the installed Zoompilot branch against the Jetlink guide. A standard fork installation does not establish that this experimental control is present.

Still waiting for the comma?

Check the server is running, the connection choice matches your platform, and your cable carries USB 3 data. Check your platform’s required port or hub.

Preparation or link failures?

Read the actual alert first. Check internet access, free storage, cooling and separate power. A sleeping computer breaks the link; mismatched updates can also prevent the expected model from loading.
