Technical notes and limitations

The current official Audi Q3 2019-2024 path uses comma four, a VW J533 connector, a harness box, a two-foot OBD-C cable, a 9.5-foot OBD-C cable, and a mount.

BluePilot documents bp-7.0 as its current release for comma 3X and comma four, based on sunnypilot master and an openpilot 0.11.2 base.

Chestnut launched on August 12, 2026 as a USB-to-PCIe compute upgrade for comma four; the ready-to-drive kit includes an AMD Radeon RX 9060 8GB.

The dedicated openpilot 0.11.2 Chestnut release channel runs a larger driving model on an external AMD GPU while image warping and driver monitoring remain on Qualcomm.

First-party Chestnut sources use different precision for the first model: the launch post says 1B parameters, while the release notes specify 880M.

comma four is the current comma device sold for official openpilot use.

comma four is one-fifth the size of comma 3X while retaining its compute, sensor suite, and functionality; current product materials list 128GB storage, a Snapdragon 845 MAX, three camera views, high-precision GPS, and USB 3.1 Gen 2.

The current openpilot documentation lists release-mici as the comma four prebuilt release branch.

BluePilot bp-7.0 documents inherited sunnypilot MADS, DEC, and model management plus BluePilot-specific Ford lateral-control choices and a device portal for comma four and comma 3X.

openpilot 0.11.1 provides the reviewed lane-centering, compatible longitudinal control, attentive driver monitoring, and manually selected Experimental baseline; accelerator override is not an independent-lateral MADS implementation.

StarPilot stable documents inherited Always On Lateral, modified CEM plus inverse CCM, selectable driving models, and Galaxy across its reviewed comma four/3X/3 scope.

sunnypilot stable documents MADS, DEC, driving-model management, and sunnylink across separately observed comma four release-mici and comma 3X release-tizi tracks.

The external GPU path runs a navigation model on the GPU.

StarPilot's current stable branch contains a comma four side-camera overlay for the road view, a follow-up preview-position correction, and comma four traffic-border presentation changes.
